Hello, all!

Moving is expensive. Moving also demands a certain willingness to downsize before the big day, which is what I've been trying to accomplish over the past month or so. I've decided to devise a little sale post in an attempt to raise some funds to help pay for the move (and the second impending move later this summer) while also purging some of my belongings and putting them into the hands of good folks!

Below will be a quick and concise inventory, all corresponding photos always kept under the cut. Inventory will constantly be updating as I add more stuff! So even if you don't see anything that tickles your fancy, maybe check back in every so often. Please feel free to PM me if you'd like more/better pictures of anything!

Prices are kept low low in an attempt to unload as much as possible. Discounts for multiple items. All prices do not include shipping; I will be shipping from the US, and I hesitate to offer international shipping only because it is so very expensive, but I suppose that is the buyer's prerogative!

This post will be pinned to the top of my blog for easy access. Shares and mentions are always appreciated, especially if you see something that might be up someone else's alley.

Inventory

So Many Buttons: Supernatural, Sherlock(/Holmes), anime, queer and political buttons, Harry Potter, a few Marvel/DC, Twilight, Star Trek, True Blood, The Boondock Saints, misc nonsense. .25 apiece!

Fandom Bracelets: The ones pictured are not necessarily for sale, but I have the supplies to make more of them, or indeed, anything you would like from any fandom. Just let me know what you would want it to say, and what colors you would prefer, and it shall be done. $3 each or two for $5.

Obviously I always like to get rid of stuff in large batches, but I also know everyone's projects are different. Please don't hesitate to DM me if you just need certain colors of felt, or are only interested in certain fabric, and we'll work something else out from there. Also don't hesitate to ask questions about how much I've got, or request better pictures! Price varies on these based on quantity.

Tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow she'll be here tomorrow ahh

I have just a few final things I need to get done today and then everything will be ready. And then my shift tomorrow is going to be the longest, most grueling shift I have ever worked. When I'm finally off, I'll have to dash home, eat something real quick, take a shower and change and then make the trek all the way to LAX to fetch my bae.

I'm so excited. How am I supposed to get anything done? How am I supposed to sleep?

I really wanna go comb through peoples' baskets over at [community profile] fandomgiftbasket and try to start plotting out gifts and treats I can contribute but I won't have time, I'm afraid! Not for the next couple of weeks. Y'all should totally go do it, though! You don't have to be signed up to write someone a drabble or make a couple of icons or leave recs for music or books or recipes. It's fun! It's fulfilling! I promise.

Yo, this Watcher debacle is... oof. OOF.

I will say this, though: Never, in my life, have I seen complete unanimous agreement in any comment section before. Incredible.

Had a really great therapy session today.

Been writing out and sending holiday cards to friends and DW homies, and wrapping gifts for my family. Very aware that all the Christmas music I listen to while I do these cheerful chores may actually impact my Spotify Wrapped since I spent a huge chunk of the year not using Spotify at all, whoops?

My root canal went great. I was scared, but there was 0 pain during the procedure. It was after the numbness wore off that ooh, I get it now, oh no. Luckily my dentist prescribed industrial strength ibuprofen, but I still can't use that side of my mouth to chew at all. Going back next week to get the crown.

My infatuation with Sabine Wren and Shin Hati is not calming down and I am in fact rattling my cage wondering when creatives are going to start making pins of them for me to add to my collection.

I am really, really excited for the new year. I am ready for a fresh start. I'm getting my hair cut into a new style and colored - I got permission from my new boss to use whatever color I want, so I think I'm going purple maybe? It's a color I've never been! - and also.

Also.

That Person and I are getting matching tattoos. Well. She already got hers, so now it's my turn. I'm still researching various artists in and around my city trying to find someone I like. It's my first and maybe only tattoo, so I just. Need it to be perfect.

Speaking of That Person, we had a conversation the other night that led to her telling me that some days, she thinks she wants what we used to have. I didn't know what to say to that other than to thank her for telling me, and to reiterate that our friendship is the cornerstone of everything and it is what I cherish the most, but that if she were to want those other things, they are hers unconditionally. I didn't ask any follow up questions. I didn't say much more than that. I just let it pass me by, because... I don't know. That was vague language. I don't want to push for anything, especially since, as much as I would love it, I don't need it. She makes me really happy, being my best friend.

So anyway, things are going pretty good, aside from the fact that the DSS absolutely refuses to communicate with me re: my stolen food benefits. I have called so many people so many times over the past several months. No one answers the phone. No one returns my calls. I leave voicemails. Nothing. I eventually got fed up and wrote a letter that I sent to the office, begging for at least acknowledgement, and nothing.

I called yesterday to make an appointment to go into the office, because apparently that's what I will have to do in order to get any attention, and the lady said they don't do that over the phone. HUH? She said I have to go into the office. I asked "So I have to go into the office to make an appointment to go into the office?" and she said "Yes."

Kay.

So, that's me! Hope you're all doing well!

Oh god oh god I did a thing.

I found out by happening to see someone's random story on Instagram that Ivanna Sakhno and Natasha Liu Bordizzo (also known as Sabine Wren and Shin Hati of Star Wars/Ahsoka) are going to be at LA Comic Con this weekend and, given they're my current hyperfixation, I panic-bought a badge for tomorrow to see them. I have no one to go with me and I don't know how I'm getting to LA tomorrow, I think maybe I'm going to jump on a train??? I did not plan for this at all. I have never been this impulsive before. lol oh my GOD why am I the way that I am?
southernmedicine: (i'm listening)
I am sick. Hooray and huzzah.

I was absolutely petrified to call in sick to work this morning, because I've only been working there for about a month and a half now and I know how important to the doctor it is that we avoid same-day call-ins whenever possible to avoid pissing off patients who have had their appointments booked for awhile. But... I felt like hot garbage, and I was winded just getting up to use the bathroom and get a drink of water, and I knew there was no way I could do five back to back hours of deep tissue massage without passing tf out, so I just... psyched myself up and called.

And all three people I ended up speaking to on the phone remarked upon how terrible I sounded, and then the doctor's wife posted to the group chat about how if we're feeling ill we shouldn't push through, so I felt better having her on my side, too.

I was going to try and tough it out but I'm really, really glad that I decided not to. I slept most of the day and I'm still tired. This is the first I've been out of bed since lunch time, when I managed a little food. I had to reschedule my root canal too, which was scheduled for tomorrow, but uhhhhh yeah that's not going to happen right now.

I accidentally started shipping a new pairing and I don't really know what to do with myself. It's been awhile since I've shipped something new! In the Star Wars fandom, too, which is more interesting still since I wasn't big time into this fandom until just this year. It's an easy ship to like when the cast is in on it too, and very publicly support and applaud the ship (in a non-baity way, which I know has been an issue with casts before).

So, if you like Star Wars, you enjoy femslash, and you're into the rivals/enemies-to-lovers trope, may I submit WolfWren, or Sabine Wren/Shin Hati? If it weren't such a pain to post images here on DW I'd share a few, but instead I'll leave it to you, dear reader, to ferret out some fanart if your interest is piqued.

I'm excited to search AO3 for it for the first time, and see what's out there.

Anyway. Honestly, not much has been going on with me. I don't have anything to write at the moment, which feels weird, but I'm so busy and sick and stressed and agitated lately that it's probably a good thing I haven't got any looming deadlines.

Hope you're all doing okay, friends.
southernmedicine: (well i'll be)
Guys, I have signed up for the inaugural round of Fuck, Marry, Kill. A fandom twist on a classic game. Honestly it looks really fun.

The minimums are very low since it's brand new! Come check it out, if you've got the time and inclination!

I did three small fills for [community profile] fandomgiftbasket this weekend, but oof, there are still so, so many baskets with nothing in them. Gonna have to roll up my sleeves and try to find the time to maybe do some other little fills. I've not had the time, energy or the motivation to do any writing lately so it's mostly been other stuff.

If you've got the free time and whatnot, perhaps pop on over and have a look at the spreadsheet, and see if you feel moved to do any fills?

Been back from Star Trek Las Vegas for a few days, now. The con itself went very well, save for a few hiccups. The hotel it was held in, however, was a complete and utter disaster. I've complained about it enough already elsewhere, so I'll spare you all the gory details.

Been trying to catch up on shows and things I missed this past week and a half.

Very excited for Futurama to be back! After all this time.

Was given unexpected feels by this latest episode of What We Do in the Shadows.

Excited for the return of Only Murders in the Building!

Strange Planet is delightful, especially if you've been a fan of the comics for a long time like I have.

Lastly, threw on Red, White and Royal Blue, and y'all, this movie is horny af haha. Way more than I imagined. You go, Amazon TV, you go.

I'm sure I have more to talk about, but my melatonin is kicking in and most of my brain has already checked out for the night.

I hope you're all doing well! I look forward to trying to catch up on my Reading feed tomorrow after work.
southernmedicine: (he can't believe)
Used my weekend to try and catch up on some tv to avoid being spoiled left, right and center.

Finished season 3 of The Witcher (oh, my god).
Finished season 2 of Good Omens (oh, my GOD?????).
Catching up on season 2 of Strange New Worlds (omggggg).

What a weekend.
southernmedicine: (like it is)
I have been so busy, and so tired.

I ended up getting the job I interviewed for, so that's good! It's just... sort of a janky place, and I have seen a whole basket of red flags, so I'm not sure how long I'm going to work there. I did also set up another interview for this coming Wednesday at a place much closer to home, so if the money is right and the atmosphere is more professional, I might just have to take it and regrettably inform the guy who just hired me that I won't be staying.

Still no word from my friend.

My car still runs, but I hear sounds I never heard before and the car pulls to one side, which is troubling. I'm still convinced the bumper is going to fall off any second. One of my headlights is dimmer than the other, in account of being crunched in.

I forgot to talk about Seasons of Drabbles, but I did actually write something I'm pretty proud of, and I got lots of lovely treats!

I need to add my newer fics to my profile. I need to reply to comments people have left me. I tried catching up on my Reading Page but it would only allow me to go back so far. I hope you're all doing well.

I've had three newish fandoms to keep me company during this time, distracting me while I try to claw myself out of my slump. Ted Lasso has been an absolute joy in every way. I straight up sobbed my way through the finale. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has been a really fun thing to linger on. The characters are just so great, and it's reminded me of just how much I've always loved the magical fantasy genre. I don't play games, but I've been watching a friend stream her gameplay of Jedi: Survivor and oh, no. Oh gosh. I have Cal/Bode brainrot, though shockingly I haven't seen... a lot of fanworks for it, even though from the very first moment the two met I saw it and I'm surprised more people did not also see it.

I'll probably feel better when I manage to get some good, solid rest and when I finally get everything organized. I'm working on it.
southernmedicine: (the look on your face)

I love them both very much, but my selections could not be more diametrically opposed, huh? Haha. Surely these will help me get into the mood to write. Next time she opens her shop, I'll have to get some of her other ones; I'd had my eye on Coffee Shop AU, Enemies to Lovers, and Soulmate AU. She's also got Smut, Only One Bed, Pining, Angst, and a few more.

Her youtube channel is ColeyDoesThings and from there you can find a link to her shop if you're interested in these, though it only opens periodically. Still, I adore Coley and her content is gold! I share some of her videos here from time to time.
southernmedicine: (a little rough)
More rain, which I love!

Bit of a mood swing, which is strange, because I actually had a really great weekend! Especially Sunday. That Person In My Life, you know the one if you've known me for a bit, proposed we do a dinner-and-movie date (although sometimes I wish she wouldn't use that word, it is so bittersweet for me) and we watched Lady and the Tramp and made spaghetti and meatballs, because that was the only obvious choice. Then we spent hours laughing and talking about plotty things for a long-term epic RP we've been writing together, until she got sleepy and had to hang up. Maybe we can't be together, but she's been so, so good to me lately about making me feel loved and valued even if I'm stuck coughing up flowers. It's enough.

Today was a good day at work. No complaints whatsoever. I got plenty of sleep last night. I had good dreams, even. But here's how I know it's a depressive 'sode instead of just laziness and lethargy: I have a reservation for Disneyland on Wednesday and I am seriously thinking "meh... what if I cancel it and just sleep all day?" I'm honestly considering canceling a trip to Disneyland to lay in bed instead. This simply will not do.

Today on the way home from work I stopped for some groceries and picked up a bottle of Starry, which is Pepsi's newest attempt to conjure up a fitting rival for Coca Cola's Sprite. It's... fine! I feel like discontinuing Sierra Mist wasn't really necessary.

What else?

Just signed up for [community profile] fandomtrees!

I love, love, love events like this, because they are super low-pressure, and you can just flit around looking at everyone's wishlists and leaving treats as you're inspired to do so if you have the time and energy. Anyone can leave a gift, too; you don't have to be signed up in any official capacity if you don't want to be. Check it out!

Gotta get my ass in gear. It's 7:30. I have to take my NyQuil by 10 if I want to be knocked out early enough to get a good night's sleep for the early shift at work tomorrow. Then I drive all the way down to San Diego to meet up with my friend for the weekend. I haven't showered yet. I haven't packed yet. Whoo. Too busy screwing around on DW haha.

Also I'm just in a really good mood because I had butter chicken poutine for dinner from this new Indian fusion place nearby.

12. Also I'm very curious about what led you to switch platforms and join us here on Dreamwidth and how that's going for you. asked by [personal profile] runpunkrun

There was some drama over on tumblr. The sort of drama that devastates you emotionally and reminds you of all the reasons why you need to continue going to therapy.

I loved it there, but too much had changed for me personally, and I couldn't remain there while at the same time working on my mental health and trying to become a better version of myself that the people around me deserved instead of the shit show they got. Without an anchor though, a place where I could participate in fandom, it was almost worse. So I'm glad I was able to set up a quiet little home away from home here, surrounded by low-key, drama-free people.

I miss having close friends that I could talk to about most anything, and I miss roleplaying. I miss the memes and the askbox games and the aesthetic posting, but this is good for me here, I think.

-

At the risk of big-time exposing myself:

As Halloween nears, I am once again reminded that there is not enough werewolf AU porn and Mirror!verse Trek smut out there in the universe. As much as I would love to be the filth that I'd like to see in the world, I am too lazy and too stressed to write my own. I draw a chalk circle on my living room floor and summon the dark ones, the Halloween gods, the shameless smut peddlers of fandom, to heed my call and grant my every wish.

(I guess also if anyone has any recs, that works too.)

5. There is a time-travel device at your disposal. You can travel to any time in the past or future: where are you going to? asked by [personal profile] dr_zook

I have thought about this a lot, because as some of you have found out by now, I overthink everything and end up taking memes way more seriously than they were intended. So, rambling under the cut!

This girl gets it.

It takes some wading through her account to find the real gems, but boy are there a lot of them.
southernmedicine: (keep it to yourself)
This week I watched all of A League of Their Own and The Sandman. The recent remakes, of course. Very, very different vibes, but I loved them both!

It's my roommate's birthday, which means we had a proud tradition to uphold tonight. Whenever it's his birthday or mine, we always go to Red Robin, take advantage of the free burger people get on their birthday, and then try to conquer our previous record of how many baskets of endless free-refill fries we can get through. Our all-time record is 8, and we only made it through 6 today. I blame it on the milkshake we shared.

The ants are gone. An exterminator came to the house and took care of it, but his visit really validated me. I was not exaggerating our predicament. This man, who has been in the business for many years, was so alarmed by how many ants we had in so many different locations around the house that he got on the phone with his manager to ask for advice. In the end, he got it done, and we haven't seen any since. I'm so happy. It was so bad that I would just see ants crawling around whenever I closed my eyes.

Also, [community profile] fandomgiftbasket could use some help! Maybe half the participants haven't received any gifts, and most of the others only have one item. Gift reveals are supposed to be on September 13th, so we've still got some time. You do not have to officially be signed up to leave a gift in somebody's basket, so if you've got some free time or are looking for an outlet for some creative energy and might like to contribute, there's a handy dandy spreadsheet here that you can peep to see what sorts of fills are needed. I'm working on a couple of things myself.

Just like it says on the tin. Stole it from [personal profile] mxcatmoon, and the OG post can be found here: Frankenstein's Meme

The point of the meme is to motivate yourself to post every day, but I'm going to be a little shit and deviate from the spirit in which it was intended, and answer them all in one go. Because:

1) I'm bored and listless today, and need a distraction,
2) I'll forget to do it every day, and
3) I don't think anybody actually wants to hear from me every day haha

Under a cut because it's a lot of content. Get to know me! Or don't.

I'm really feeling like I want to write something centered around hanahaki disease, because every time I think of it or read a story about it or see fan art inspired by it, I feel something inside of me clench in response to my very real - and currently ongoing - personal experience with unrequited love. As a concept: living quietly with this condition that will one day kill me.

I like the idea of projecting; of tracking a character's lonely, secret struggle.

I like the concept of flower language, and the research I'd get to do in order to decide just what sort of flowers are involved here, based on who the character is, who the person they love is, and what their relationship is like.

It'd be angsty and dramatic and entirely self-indulgent.

I'd probably want to write McKirk, since that is the only pairing I seem to feel comfortable enough writing at present, only there already exists a McKirk fic about this. I've read it, and it was wonderful. In fact, it was only published about a month ago! I'll link it here, at the end of the entry, if anyone's interested in having a look.

So, dear readers, what would you do? How much of an unofficial crime is it to write a story that is probably bound to be pretty similar to somebody else's, even if only at it's roots? Is this a Remix situation? Do people still do Remixes? Would you, like, reach out to the other author?

I dunno. I dunno.

Regardless, here's a rec!
